Your custom hot tub, designed right — from the ground up. You’re about to spend $10,000 (hot tub) –$25,000 (pool) building a custom hot tub or pool. Maybe more. The materials, the labour, the groundworks — it adds up fast. Getting the design wrong at the start isn’t just frustrating. It’s expensive. Replumbing a tub that’s already been tiled costs thousands. Building a control room in the wrong position can mean your pump can’t prime. Undersizing your plumbing means weak jets and a heater that struggles. This consultancy exists so that none of that happens to you. Over 1,500 custom hot tubs built worldwide using this process. Across the USA, UK, Europe, Australia and beyond. Why I Started Doing This When I built my own custom hot tub, I couldn’t find the information I needed anywhere. I had to figure it out myself — through trial, error, and a lot of research. When I finished, I made a promise to myself: I’d put everything I’d learned online to help others. That became buildahottub.com. Hundreds of video tutorials, thousands of words of guides, and a community of DIY builders who’ve now completed their own tubs all over the world. The Design Consultancy is the next level up. It’s for people who want a completely custom build — their own dimensions, their own features, their own vision — done properly from day one. What You Get This isn’t a quick email back-and-forth. This is a comprehensive, end-to-end design service that takes your rough idea and turns it into a fully engineered, build-ready plan. Here’s exactly what’s included: 1. Initial Brief & Sketch Review You send me a rough sketch with your dimensions, any features you’re thinking about (waterfalls, jets, benching layout), and your build method — poured concrete or block-built. I’ll review it and come back with questions and initial thoughts before we commit anything to design. 2. Control Room Planning The control room is the most critical part of the whole design and the one most people get wrong. We’ll work out whether it should be above or below the waterline, how far it sits from the tub, and exactly what pump specification you need based on a proper head height calculation. Get this wrong and your pump will never perform correctly. 3. Site Assessment You send me photos and a video walkthrough of your proposed site. I’ll look for drainage issues, access challenges, structural considerations, and anything else that could cause problems down the line. Better to spot it now than after the concrete is poured. 4. Interactive 3D Model This is where your tub really comes to life. I build a full 3D model of your design and we go back and forth — via email or WhatsApp — until you’re completely happy with how it looks and functions. You sign off on it before we move to the next stage. 5. 3D Plumbing Layout Once the structure is signed off, I add the full plumbing to the 3D model. You’ll be able to see exactly where every pipe, jet, and component sits within your design. This makes the actual plumbing installation far more straightforward for you or your contractor. 6. Architectural CAD Drawing The 3D model goes to our CAD and structural engineering team, who produce a professional architectural drawing with full dimensions. This is the document your building contractor will actually work from. Clean, clear, and to industry standard. 7. Comprehensive Build Documentation A 6,000 word build guide covering everything from sealing concrete to insulation, water chemistry to equipment installation. This document has been refined over years of real-world builds and has been used to complete literally hundreds of tubs. If it’s not in there, it’s probably not needed. 8. Parts Quotation Once your design is complete, I put together a full parts quotation for everything you’ll need to equip your tub — pumps, heater, jets, controls, plumbing fittings. All specced correctly for your exact build. No guessing, no overbuying, no missing components. What Customers Say (Not made up, these all have multiple videos on my YouTube Channel) “I had no idea where to start. The 3D model was the moment it all clicked — suddenly I could actually see what I was building. Worth every penny.” — Patrick, Wisconsin (basement hot tub & cold plunge build) “The control room planning alone saved me from a really expensive mistake. I had it in the wrong position. Andi spotted it immediately.” — Richie, Texas “The documentation is incredible. I referred back to it constantly throughout the build. Nothing was left unanswered.” — Mark, Kansas Is This Right For You? Frequently Asked Questions How do we communicate during the process? Primarily via email, with WhatsApp and email available for sharing 3D model screenshots and quick back-and-forth on design decisions. You won’t be waiting days for responses. What if I change my mind about something during the design? That’s what the 3D modelling stage is for. We iterate until you’re happy before anything is finalised. Changes are much easier (and cheaper) in a 3D model than in concrete. Do I need to know anything about hot tubs before we start? No. That’s the whole point. You bring the vision and the site — I bring the technical knowledge. Plenty of the 1,500 builds completed via this process were by complete first-timers. What happens after the consultancy — can I get help with parts? Yes. The parts quotation is included in the consultancy, and once you’re ready to order you can do so directly via parts4tubs.com (USA) or parts4tubs.co.uk (UK). Everything will be specced correctly for your build, so there’s no guesswork. How long have you been doing this? The buildahottub.com website has been running since 2017.
